The University of the Philippines Baguio Mountaineers (UPBM) is a non-profit college campus-based organization that mainly aims to promote mountaineering as both a venue for environmental consciousness and as a healthy and sustainable physical activity.

In 2003, UPBM successfully pioneered the first trail running event in Baguio City, advocating the immediate need for more safe open spaces and accessible green environments. The call for proper preservation and maintenance of nature trails and parks was very well-received. Since then, the UPBM Run for Trails has become a patronized annual event in the city.

Although this activity has been postponed due to the pandemic, a viable alternative has come to light: virtual running! With the use of technology coupled with the eagerness of likeminded individuals looking for a reason to run, the Run for Trails 2022 has been made possible.

Run For Trails 2022 seeks to raise awareness on interconnecting environmental crises, while also extending critical support to communities that have been adversely affected by super typhoon Rai.
